About the role
The City of Coffs Harbour has multiple opportunities for experienced Leading Hands to join our Water and Wastewater Services Team. The Leading Hand will be responsible for their team, ensuring works are completed in line with City standards and allocated tasks are managed to make the best use of plant, materials, time, and resources.
As a Leading Hand, you'll play an important role in operating, maintaining, and constructing the City's sewerage infrastructure. Your leadership will help us deliver high levels of service to our community members while fostering a positive and proactive team.

About you
You will have proven experience in water or wastewater operations, with the ability to mentor other staff, communicate effectively, and support a culture of accountability, flexibility, and customer‑focused service. You have a strong understanding of Work Health and Safety practices, and a proactive approach to improving work methods, and the capacity to participate in an after‑hours on‑call roster when required.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in construction, maintenance, repairs and operation of sewers and other relevant infrastructure including the laying of sewers and cutting in junctions.
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations or equivalent qualification
- MR licence
- National Construction Induction Training Certificate (White card).
- Confined Spaces
- Working at Heights
- Working near overhead powerlines
What's on offer?
- Competitive salary around $66,500 (plus 12% Super) + On Call Allowance + Live Sewer Allowance depending on your capabilities and experience.
- Permanent Full Time 38 hours per week
- Options to accrue RDO's and flexible working arrangements.
